JEDDAH: Pak Shaheen lived up its reputation to score an emphatic 73 runs win over Makkah Eagles and clinch the JCA-Jotun Paints Saudi Cup.

It was the first trophy for Shaheen in tournaments run by Jeddah Cricket Association. Jotun Saudia Co. Limited sponsored the tournament.

Pak Shaheen batted first and scored 263 runs for 4 wickets. Faisal Khan, who had been consistently scoring throughout the league, once again delivered in the final as he contributed a pugnacious 65 runs off only 28 balls inclusive of 10 fours and 2 sixes.

However, Faisal was overshadowed by Raweedad Ahmed who scored a brilliant 90 off 47 balls with 7 sweetly timed hits to the fence and 7 towering sixes. Giving him company down the order was Usman (31 — 3 fours, 1 six) and Furqan 44 (3 fours, 4 sixes).

Malik Aijaz took 2 for 41 while Javed and Nawaz picked up a wicket each. Makkah Eagles got off to a good start keeping up with the required run rate despite losing two early wickets, they raced to 100 in 8 overs and looked to make a fighting reply. However, fall of a few quick wickets set back the Eagles, and in the end could only manage 190 for 7.

Malik Aijaz was the highest scorer scoring 73 runs of 28. But outside of Tanveer (30) Malik did not get support from other batsmen. Faisal (2 for 40), Yasir (2 for 42) and Israr (2 for 22) took wickets at regular interval to give Pak Shaheen victory and the coveted Jotun Paints Saudi Cup.
