On the fifth week of the three months long Republic Day Cup 2013 cricket tournament, second prize distribution ceremony was held on Eidgah Ground in Riyadh yesterday. Man of the match trophies for the matches played on fourth and fifth weeks were presented to the winners.

Senior cricketer of Imperial Cricket Club Abdul Raoof Ali Khan is the top scorer of tournament so far. Raoof scored 344 runs in 4 matches with the highest score of 128 runs in an innings. He also won two Man of the Match trophies.

Ashfaq Ahmer is the top bowler of the tournament with 14 wickets to his credit.

The tournament jointly organized by Andhra Pradesh United Society (APUS) and Riyadh Premier League (RPL) attracted 20 teams and 240 players.

At yesterday’s prize presentation Syed Zia Ur Rahman, CEO, yahind.com ,was the chief guest and he presented the man of the match trophy to the winners. Vice president of Jamia Millia Islamia Alumni Association (JMIAA) Aftab Nizami was the guest of honor. Shabaz Ahmed, SABB, businessman Muzafferuddin, Abdul Basith, BFU, Dr. Mohammed Ashraf Ali, president, APUS, Mohammed Rafeeq, Vice President, APUS ; and Mir Mahmood Ali awarded trophies to the winners.

Ur Rahman, CEO presented the first trophy to Taher Bin Jaffer of Riyadh Warriors. Victorians Cricket Club emerged as the top scoring team for the last two weeks. They scored 294/4 and 272/5 in 16 overs for fourth and fifth week respectively.

Mohammadan Cricket Club was the runner-up for the fourth with the score of 113/9 in 16 Overs . Hussain Alkaf was declared as Man of the Match. The runners up for the fifth week were Family and Friends Cricket Club who scored 168/10 in 14.3 Overs. Syed Aftab Uddin was the player of the match.

The top 5 batsmen of this tournament were Abdul Raoof Ali Khan Sr, Syed Abdul Wahab Ather, Mohsin, Sameer Pasha Nawab and Mohammed Adnan, while Ashfaq Ahmer, Azeem, Mohammed Sohail, Mohammed Kaleem Feroz and Siddqui were the best five bowlers.

To mark the 64th Republic Day of India, APUS hosted a grand inaugural function where captains of the 20 participating teams were felicitated. A large number of prominent members of Indian community attended the function at Mezbaan Restaurant.

Previously, Man of the Match trophies for the matches played in the first three weeks were presented on the third week. Mohammed Saifuddin, joint editor Yahind.Com; Mir Mohsin Ali, senior correspondent Yahind.Com, Javed Ali, sports correspondent Yahind and executive cember APUS, Dr. Mohammed Ashraf, president APUS; Mohammed Rafeeq, vice president APUS; and owner of Mumtaz Restaurant, Shahbaz Ahmed, Mohammed Ampily, Shahbaz, & Sarwar presented the trophies to the winners in the first three weeks.

Riyadh Premier League (RPL) was launched in 2010 purely consisting Indian players and under whose umbrella are nearly 1,000 players and about 40 teams.
