JEDDAH: RTJ Baguio Transient House delivered the league’s first grand slam as it won the Team of the Week, men’s Bowler of the Week and ladies’ Bowler of the Week awards in a prodigious display during the fourth session in the OFBC (Overseas Filipino Bowlers Club) Friday Afternoon League Season 7 at the Iceland Bowling Center here.
RTJ bowlers were a point shy of a perfect grand slam, compiling 19 points in winning their breakthrough Team of the Week accolade.
Rico Bulalayao and Malou Nidoy paved the way for RTJ slam thanks to respective highs of 578 and 559 on the day that made them the Bowler of the Week in their divisions.
Youngsters did enough to defend the lead that they grabbed from Arci-5. They tallied 14 points on total pinfalls of 2,417.
Arci-5 carded total pinfalls of 2,350 to be on 11 points, while the Lucky Ones and Spareshots returned 10 (2,388 pinfalls) and 6 (2,269).
RTJ missed just the third game while picking up the 5 points for winning the first two games and overall output, as Jack Jarin backed up Bulalayao and Malou on 548.
Joel Nidoy added 488 and team captain Rudy Jamon tossed in 463 at RTJ, which moved up three places to second in the team standings.
Youngsters had team captain Toto Lim leading from the front with his three-game series of 523 to go with the 521 by Bonnie Maelom, 471 by Vangie Lim, 454 by Demet Vasquez and 448 by Maria Mendoza.
Ramon Fabro was the lone player to cross 500 at Arci-5 on 521 while skipper Eli Arciaga and Sergio Modar had matching cards of 489s and Sharmaine Patayan made 437. The fifth player on the team, Nap Patayan, added 414.
Veteran Hadi Pacheco and Jose Antonio Bayag Jr. shot 512 and 505 at the helm of Lucky Ones who also drew 492 from Rose Agustin, 477 from Johara Palot and 402 from Alan Ornedo.
Over at Spareshots Danny Atubang and Carmen Duma led the way on 527 and 502. The other scorers were Noli de Leon on 453 and Alex Duma on 442.
