Defending champion Shabab SABB captained by Ahmed Qarquosh snatched the top spot from SAMA-Abana in the team standings in an ominous repeat of last year’s scenario during the 10th week of the Inter-Bank Tenpin Bowling League 2013 Conference at the InterContinental Hotel Bowling Center here.

Shabab SABB claimed a record fourth Team of the Week award carding a towering 542 points in comprehensively beating to Alinma which returned 359.

Fahad Al Heza bagged his second Bowler of the Week accolade in a remarkable display that saw him erase individual league records for high series scratch (873) and high series with handicap (889) at the vanguard of Shabab. Francis Guron, Jaffer Al Kathiri, Qarquosh and Luis Bonguit supported Fahad with 844, 839, 777 and 697 respectively.

Despite the defeat Alinma kept third place in the team standings. They earned 309 bonus points plus one game win points of 50. The pair of Obet Mata and Romy Burgos tallied 823 and 816. Jerry Barce had 577 in three games while Jojo de Silva, Lito Tolentino, Angelo Train and Willie Bondoc rolled 409, 391, 378 and 350.

SAMA-Abana nearly blanked SAIB 260-50 but then was unable to prevent its slide to second place. Team captain Teody Zulaybar had a hard time finding the right player combination to produce enough win points to keep the top spot. Veteran Clem Guelas led the team with 788 while Zulaybar, Koko Torres and Jun Bolocboloc rolled 701, 681 and 671. The father and son tandem of Bernie and Ranier Torres had 380 and 360.

Captain Dong Calub paced SAIB at 814 with Ed Robillos on 718 followed by Eddison Austria and Mike Benito on 678 and 649. Straight bowler Julius Queypo tallied 273 while veteran Joey Salem and Ric Catulay had 153 and 138.

The match between former champions Saudi Hollandi Bank and PNB Unified ended in a 2-2 draw. However, SHB edged PNB with a shocking 229 bonus points during the second and fourth game. Captain Greg Antonio handled his team lineup with precise maneuvering to improve one notch to fourth in the team standings. Straight bowler Gil Hembra was SHB’s main man at 776. Clem Salazar, Antonio and Arnel Bernabe rolled 755, 734 and 723 while Cholo Nieto and Gerry Ayonon had 425 and 382.

PNB Unified dropped to fifth place having been blanked by its opponent during the last two games. The trio of Sonny Alviso, James Frizzle and Mixi Lechuga led PNB on 775, 764 and 713.

The fourth match between sister teams Banque Saudi Fransi and BSF-CBG ended in a draw with each scoring 130 points. Noel Morales on 742, Edwin Timango on 699 and captain Jun Bantug on 653 were the leading scorers at BSF.

For BSF-CBG consistent Alfred Estrada showed the way at 763 followed by Guilbert Masias and Abet Minosa at 55 and 671.
