JEDDAH: The Category A match between Sweet Amy and Ballers was supposed to be the Week 10 headliner, but ended in an 81-59 yawner for Sweet Amy while as Olive Hanco gained a tie for the Category D Pool 2 with idle Freyssinet on 3-1 after a 61-51 victory over AMI Pioneers in the FBA (Filipino Basketball Association) 37th Season at the Sheraton Jeddah Hotel Sport Complex basketball court here.

Sweet Amy poured it on in the middle quarters to win pulling away with Best Player Napiza scoring 24 points while Lisztian Amparado and Gino Cilot each had 16.

The Ballers who are said to have help on the way in a player with the built and quickness of ex-PBA Purefoods pro Boyet Bautista drew 18 points from Salman, 11 from Fadi Al Tawil and 6 from Alcantara.

The victory evened Sweet Amy’s record at 1-1 in a tie with its victim in the double round robin four-team division where Panino’s is in the lead on 2-1. A fourth team, 3’s Combibos from the Industrial Area, have a 0-1 card.

Best Player Taleb Cortez shot all but two of his 14 points in the second half to help Edgar Ainza’s Hanco squad hit 26 points to the enemy’s 13 in the third quarter which proved pivotal in the game in which Hanco had Amor top-scoring with 23 points and Naguit on 11.

Vallejo, Paul Taguba and Espiritu paced the Pioneers on 16, 8 and 7 points.

In a pair of Category C matches, AVK sent Twitch Mobile to its fifth straight defeat with a lopsided 75-46 triumph in the first game Friday while Pinoy Expatriate.Com won a thrilling battle down the stretch vs. Ford Al Jazirah on a clincher by eventual Best Player Destreza 71-69.

The results left Pinoy on 2-2, a full game ahead of AVK at 1-1 while Al Jazirah went down to its third loss in five games.

Cilot, playing his first game of the week, top-scored at Pinoy on 23 points, while Garcia and Rubay had 20 and 8 respectively. Navarro led Ford with 19 points while Mateo and Sanchez each had 14.

Elsewhere, the Pioneer gained a split for the weekend when it brought down Aramez 64-50 while ALJ-CDC defeated Takbo Unli 74-55 in D Pool 3.
