German parliament approves easing rules to get citizenship, dropping restrictions on dual passports
- The government says that 14 percent of the population — more than 12 million of the country’s 84.4 million inhabitants — doesn’t have German citizenship and that about 5.3 million of those have lived in Germany for at least a decade
