Authors at the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature

The Emirates Airline Festival of Literature is set to take place from Jan. 29-Feb. 13 with a stellar list of authors attending the virtual and in-person event.

    Avni Doshi
    The Dubai-based US-Indian author was shortlisted for the 2020 Booker Prize for her book “Burnt Sugar.”
  2. Amal Al-Sahlawi
    Amal Al-Sahlawi
    Amal Al-Sahlawi is an Emirati poet who writes freestyle and classical poetry. Her work tackles feminism, philosophy and existentialism. She is also keen to address the anxieties of modern life. 
  3. Dana Dajani
    Dana Dajani
    The award-winning Palestinian writer, performer, and advocate’s background in theatre has influenced her love of writing and allowed her to create a unique style of solo performance. She uses gestures, characters, and a simple scarf to transport audiences through different themes. 
  4. Ziauddin Yousafzai
    Ziauddin Yousafzai
    The Pakistani education activist is best known as the father of Malala Yousafzai, the youngest-ever Nobel Peace Prize laureate, who will also attend the event. He is currently the United Nations Special Advisor on Global Education. 
  5. Shan Romeo Chauhan
    Shan Romeo Chauhan
    Shan Romeo Chauhan is a nine-year-old British author living in Dubai. His book, “Strength Within,” was published in March 2020.
  6. Abdullah Al-Busais
    Abdullah Al-Busais
    The Kuwaiti poet and novelist won the 2017 award for the Best Arabic Novel at the Sharjah International Book Fair with “The Taste of the Wolf.”
