Here are six Emirati writers who are breaking new ground in literature. They will all be on hand at the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature from Feb. 4-9.

Dubai Abulhoul Alfalasi
Alfalasi is the author of “Galagolia: The Hidden Divination,” the first Emirati fantasy novel in English. She is currently writing a series of children’s books on Emirati folklore, with four published so far.Ali Al-Saloom

Al-Serkal garnered attention with her debut book, “Mira’s Curly Hair” — a picture book for children about self-acceptance. The book tells the tale of a little girl who learns to embrace her natural hair.
