Emirati authors at the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature

Here are six Emirati writers who are breaking new ground in literature. They will all be on hand at the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature from Feb. 4-9.

    Dubai Abulhoul Alfalasi
    Alfalasi is the author of “Galagolia: The Hidden Divination,” the first Emirati fantasy novel in English. She is currently writing a series of children’s books on Emirati folklore, with four published so far.
  3. Ali Al-Saloom
    Ali Al-Saloom
    He is best known for his “Ask Ali” TV show and books and will launch his new book, “The Answers” in 2020.
  4. Omar Saif Ghobash
    Omar Saif Ghobash
    Ghobash is the author of “Letters to a Young Muslim,” an exploration of what it means to be a Muslim in the 21st century.
  5. Mohammed Al-Murr
    Mohammed Al-Murr
    He has written 15 collections of short stories and is best known for “The Wink of an Eye” and “Bleeding Heart.
  6. Maryam Al-Serkal
    Maryam Al-Serkal
    Al-Serkal garnered attention with her debut book, “Mira’s Curly Hair” — a picture book for children about self-acceptance. The book tells the tale of a little girl who learns to embrace her natural hair.
