Lebanese couturier Zuhair Murad unveiled his Spring 2021 ready-to-wear collection this week. Here’s everything you need to know about the Ras Baalbek-born designer’s latest offering.
Change of art
For Spring 2021, the couturier drew inspiration from French artist Henri Rousseau’s paintings, more specifically, the exuberant fauna and botanical gardens the painter was known for.
Wanderlust
Rosseau never actually left France, despite being best known for his exotic jungle landscapes. Murad’s new spring collection sartorially depicts the sense of yearning for travel during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Flower power
The designer re-interpreted the artist’s work with a series of prints and floral motifs scattered over fluid silk dresses and blouses.
Black and hue
In Murad’s color palette, bold shades of lavender, fuchsia, azure and emerald intermingle with lashings of black and white.
Closet fillers
The collection is rife with daywear options like crêpe jumpsuits and pantsuits, printed chiffon and crêpe dresses and blouses, as well as evening wear like sequined cocktail dresses and plunging gowns with high slits.
Red carpet ready
As for the heavily embellished, over-the-top looks Murad’s average A-list customer comes looking for, there are embroidered gowns in bright shades and a range of tailoring in shimmering gold lamé.
