I suppose many expats are busy trying to understand why we have an official anti-corruption mission. By the way, it’s called ‘Nazaha’ (Integrity). So, when a royal decree calls for such a mission to be created, authorized and generously supported, it means that the problem of corruption is serious and that it went beyond the abilities of the available control authorities.
Therefore, I will share a floating question in my mind with you: Is it more important to support anti-corruption officials or should modern and functional law be developed? Personally, I believe the second option is the best choice. The idea of fighting an invisibles enemy does not sound good to me any way. It even reminds me of George W Bush's funny idea of fighting terrorism. The idea looks bright but the cost could be devastating.
I am 100 percent positive that law is the worst enemy of corruption. So, we should hurry up with developing the Saudi law, educating more lawyers and encouraging a better environment for civil rights. A continuously growing society such as ours can no longer rely on the media for exposure without having a tangible response.
