Yemeni army liberates new area in Taiz from Houthi grip

DUBAI: The Yemeni National Army liberated the Wadi Al-Jisr area, west of Taiz, following violent confrontations with the Iran-backed Houthi militia on Saturday, Saudi state-news channel Al-Ekhbariya reported.
The official Yemeni news agency quoted a military source as saying that “the confrontations led to the liberation of Wadi Al-Jisr, west of Taiz, during which the militias suffered heavy losses in men and equipment.”
In the same context, the Yemeni army forces foiled a Houthi on the army’s air defense positions.

US-led airstrikes kill 40 in Daesh-held area of Syria

BEIRUT: A Syria war monitor and state media are reporting that at least 40 people, mostly civilians, have been killed by US-led airstrikes on the last pocket held by Daesh militants in eastern Syria.
Rami Abdurrahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, says airstrikes hit homes early Saturday in a village near the town of Hajin, near the border with Iraq. He says at least 43 people, including 17 children and 12 women, were killed. He says it is not clear if the men killed in the strikes were militants.
Syrian state news agency SANA also reported the strikes, saying 40 were killed in the remote area.
The coalition, which says it makes every effort to avoid targeting civilians, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
