JEDDAH: The Interior Ministry yesterday identified the two suspected Al-Qaeda terrorists who were killed in gunbattles with security forces four years ago as Saud Muhammad Abdul Aziz Al-Saadan and Mishaal bin Daleem Al-Wasidi Al-Harbi.

Al-Saadan and 14 others were killed during an operation against Al-Qaeda militants in Al-Rass in Qassim province three years ago, a spokesman at the ministry said, adding that he had taken part in many terrorist attacks inside the Kingdom.

“Al-Saadan had received training in the use of light and heavy weapons and making explosives at military camps of the terrorist group in Afghanistan,” the spokesman said, adding that he sneaked into the Kingdom in 2002.

The spokesman said Al-Saadan had played a big role in readying six explosive-ridden GMC vans for terrorist operations, adding that one of them was used to attack the headquarters of traffic police in Riyadh. He also participated in a 2003 terrorist attack on Al-Mohaya housing compound in the capital.

Speaking about Al-Harbi, the ministry official said he also had received military training in Afghanistan. “He was an expert in forging documents and had assisted Al-Qaeda militants in the Kingdom in their various activities,” the official added.
