SAN FRANCISCO: Colorado third baseman Nolan Arenado made a sensational falling catch over the tarp in foul territory, Corey Dickerson had an RBI single among his three hits and the Rockies established their best road start in franchise history with a 4-1 win against the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday night.

A sprinting Arenado crashed into the tarp and went over the rail along the left-field line while catching a popup by Gregor Blanco in the eighth. He immediately made the throw from his knees while still on the tarp then toppled to the dirt. Center fielder Charlie Blackmon followed with his own gem when he chased down a deep fly at the fence to rob pinch-hitter Buster Posey to end the inning.

Scott Oberg (1-0) pitched the fifth for the win in his major league debut as the Rockies moved to 5-0 on the road to start a season for the first time..

Orioles 4, Yankees 3: Adam Jones homered for the fourth time in five games, and starter Miguel Gonzalez struck out a career-high 10 batters in seven innings as the Baltimore Orioles defeated the New York Yankees.

New York starter CC Sabathia went seven innings and allowed four runs to take the loss to Baltimore (4-4).

Red Sox 8, Nationals 7: Scoring three runs in the seventh inning without recording a hit, the Boston Red Sox rallied for a wild win over the Washington Nationals.

Boston erased a 7-5 deficit by scoring twice on two errors on the same play by Washington reliever Blake Treinen. A groundout by shortstop Brock Holt drove in the winning run.

The Pirates (3-5) managed just three singles off Greene (2-0) and two of them never left the infield.

Rajai Davis had two hits and an RBI for Detroit (7-1).

White Sox 4, Indians 1: The Indians lost their starting pitcher two batters into the game, as Carlos Carrasco apparently avoided serious injury after getting hit in the head by a line drive off the bat of left fielder Melky Cabrera, and went on to lose to the White Sox.

Carrasco was taken to a hospital and treated for a jaw contusion.

Chicago (3-4) scored twice in that first inning and Jose Abreu homered in the fifth.

Rangers 8, Angels 2: Catcher Robinson Chirinos drove in five runs to back another strong outing from starter Nick Martinez as the Texas Rangers routed the Los Angeles Angels.

Marlins 8, Braves 2: Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton broke his slump by going 3-for-3 with four RBIs in Miami’s win.

Rays 3, Blue Jays 2: Steven Souza Jr. hit a long home run in the first inning, then scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly in the eighth after bunting for a single, and the Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Toronto Blue Jays.

Tampa Bay (5-3) took the opening two games of the four-game series to run its winning streak to four.

Reds 3, Cubs 2: Anthony DeSclafani struck out five and allowed just two hits while the Cincinnati Reds held off a late Chicago Cubs rally.
