Security authorities are investigating the killing of a policeman in the southern part of Riyadh.
Majed Al-Ghamdi was shot dead Friday evening by unidentified assailants, police said on Saturday.
They said that assailants driving an unidentified car opened fire on a police patrol in the southern part of the city around 7 p.m.
An intense search is under way to find the suspected killer and security has been tightened at the city's exit checkpoints, said a police spokesman.
He said that criminals will be rounded up soon as authorities had ramped up investigations amid heightened alert.
The Ministry of Interior has underlined that it is fully committed to assuring the safety and security of the people.
