RIYADH: “Improving human health and community service through the provision of safe and high quality health care services is our vision, " said Dr. Mohammed Fahad Al-Hokair, a young Saudi medical director at Imam Abdulrahman Al-Faisal Hospital (IAAH), one of the newest hospitals established in the south of Riyadh under the Ministry of Health.

The event, dubbed “NURSES: A Force for Change. Work Effective, Cost Effective…” was attended by hospital director Ateeg Mohammad Al-Qarni and nursing director Ahmed Al-Ghamdi.

“We, in the hospital, keep pace with the latest scientific developments with an emphasis on training and continuing education programs,” Al-Hokair noted, adding, this is the very vision of the king.

“Our priority is patient first, in addition to respect, perfection and commitment to the system and work forming part of the value chain,” he added.

Al-Hokair said: "Since he was our prince in Riyadh for decades, we have lived in his era and know that he is a visionary leader. He supports everything in the interest of the community and citizens and always appreciates good work."

According to him, IAAH is trying to be a leading hospital in the Kingdom in meeting community needs and delivering safe and quality health care. The hospital, inaugurated on Oct. 19, 2012 by then Minister of Health Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, has a 414-bed capacity.

He said that during the last two years, the hospital has received 500 emergency patients on a daily basis and their emergency room serves 2.5 million inhabitant in Al-Shifa district.

The hospital has departments such as the ER, which is one of the four hospitals in the Riyadh region that provides life-saving services, and involves rescue, resuscitation and first-aid.

The Extra-Corporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy Department has one of the five ESWL machines in the Kingdom. The pediatric ward, OB-GYNE, neonatal ICU and pediatric ICU, an adult ICU, surgical suites, a male surgical ward, female surgical ward, male medical ward, female medical ward, endoscopy department and the out-patient unit are the other departments serving the community.
