ALKHOBAR: Saudi International Petrochemical Co. (Sipchem) will shut down a methanol plant for around four weeks for maintenance in the fourth quarter, it said on Monday.
The company would turnaround and upgrade major equipment at the plant, Sipchem's president of operations, Abdullah Al-Saadoon, said on an analysts' call after the release of its second-quarter results.
Sipchem executives did not say what financial impact the shutdown would have, but said that there was enough inventory to limit the impact. The plant in Jubail has an annual production of 967,000 tons of methanol.
