This is with reference to the report “PKK kills 16 Turkish soldiers” (Sept. 8). It is really sad to read such reports about Turkey, which is one of the most important Muslim countries in the world. Turkey’s humanitarian role in various global crises is commendable. The PKK is definitely trying to destabilize an otherwise stable and peaceful country. It is exploiting ethnic sentiments to promote its Godless ideology. Ankara should adopt a comprehensive strategy to deal with this threat. Targeting PKK hide-outs is an important measure but an intellectual battle to defeat this flawed ideology will greatly help in the long run. — Ehtisham Khan, Jubail
