DON’T believe it when people say these days that the whole world belongs to you as a result of globalization. They will also tell you such nonsense as you belong to every nook and corner of this earth. Don’t believe such rubbish. It is because you can’t feel at home except where your loved ones, kinsfolk and friends are.

In the final analysis, your place is in the midst of people whom you regard with affection, in whose presence you feel at ease, and whom you love. This vast world is also very narrow in the absence of loved ones. Among your own people, you find it hard to understand who loves you sincerely. It may be your father, your mother, your brother or your wife. You will be the happiest man in the world if it so happens that your dearest friend is your wife.

You may ask if it is possible. Yes it is possible. When you choose your life partner, make sure that if this woman were a man he would have been your best friend. The spouse is in fact the sole companion — whether you like it or not — on the long road of your life.

There are also couples who live together on a mutual exchange basis. Such people are in fact seeking friendship and companionship on a temporary basis. In reality they can only remain acquaintances. Yet there are others who find consolation and a sense of protection in their work instead of a strong family life. Temporary relations will not solve our problems except to a certain extent. Such relations fail to provide happiness in the long run.

Only a wife, a better half, can give you perpetual happiness. In fact, love is an inner motivation to make ourselves perfect. Of course, there are couples living as enemies under the same roof. What sort of life is this and what kind of belonging is it?

To belong means to return to where our beloved ones are. The beloved ones can be — person, place, country or language. It is, therefore, our duty to make children love their language, their country and their people. We should also teach them how to choose the right partner in their life. And also we should serve as their model in everything we do and in everything we acquire. We should make our children love and appreciate these things. This is how love becomes the key to the state of belonging.
