JEDDAH, 16 August — About 70 percent of the four million users of pre-paid telephone cards in the Kingdom are women, according to Saad ibn Ali Al-Juma, chairman of Al-Miftah International Telecom Company. Speaking to Al-Madinah newspaper, he said a price war has broke out between the five telecom companies to win a major share of the pre-paid card market, estimated at SR600 million. “Among the users of pre-paid phone cards some 60 percent are Saudis, while the remaining are expatriates,” he pointed out. Pre-paid cards account for only four percent of the Kingdom’s telecom market.
