ADEN, 21 August — Yemeni authorities are investigating the death of 14 people, including all the members of one family, in the Empty Quarter while they were on their way to Saudi Arabia.
According to informed sources, two women and two children were among the dead. Tribal sources said the people died because of a lack of water, while others attributed it to a sandstorm. There was also a report that their jeep had run out of fuel.
The sources added that among the dead were the members of a whole family from the Qarzat household and members of Al-Tameem, Al-Afary and Al-Awamir families.
They were all traveling in a Nissan jeep, which left Hadramout on Tuesday evening. There was no news about them until Sunday, when the jeep was found by a group of Bedouins.
