GEORGETOWN, 22 August — The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee & The Center for Contemporary Arab Studies at Georgetown University will feature an exclusive premiere of Ahlam Al-Manfa — Frontiers of Dreams and Fears, a film by Mai Masri to mark the 19th anniversary of the Sabra and Shatila massacres, according to a press release.
Mai Masri will introduce the film and lead a discussion following the screening at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001 at the ICC Auditorium at Georgetown University.
This movie follows the lives of two young Palestinians through several months of their lives, Mona in the Shatila refugee camp and Manar in Bethlehem’s Al-Dhaysha camp.
Living in different camps, the two girls represent variations on a theme of deprivation. But though they do have a tragic aspect, the stories aren’t simply portraits of pathos.
