RIYADH, 24 August  — As part of its drive to capture a share of the Kingdom’s oil-change market, a newly floated joint venture is offering motorists free refreshments, newspapers and even free Internet services while their vehicles get an oil change at 15 different locations.

This was disclosed to Arab News by Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Yamani, executive director of Gulf Express, a new joint venture between NAFT Services Co. Ltd. and Advanced Petroleum Services Co. Ltd. (licensee of Gulf Oil International).

Al-Yamani said they have already set up 15 deluxe oil change service stations for all types of vehicles to provide a range of services, such as fluid top-ups (including brake oil, battery water, gear oil), vacuuming of the car’s interior and the cleaning of its windows.

“This package service is completed in just 15 minutes for most cars, while the customer is seated in an air-conditioned lounge with complimentary drinks, newspapers and Internet facilities,” the executive said, adding that over 70 such stations will open at other NAFT service stations across the Kingdom.

Describing the service as the first of its kind in the Kingdom, he said it could serve as a forerunner of franchising similar outlets in the long run.
