JEDDAH, 15 September — GCC Secretary-General Jameel Al-Hujeilan yesterday praised Crown Prince Abdullah, deputy premier and commander of the National Guard, for taking up the issue of Arab and Muslim Americans facing threats and harassment in the United States following Tuesday’s attacks.
The crown prince raised the issue during his telephone conversation with US President George W. Bush.
The president responded positively to Prince Abdullah’s request and urged the Americans to deal with Arabs and Muslims with respect and not to punish them for crimes committed by individuals who have no relationship whatsoever with the Arab and Muslim communities.
“The president’s statement is a fruit of the efforts of your royal highness, and it reflects your worries on the safety of Arabs and Muslims in the US in the present situation,” Hujeilan said in a message to the crown prince. (SPA)
