JEDDAH, 18 September — The Muslim World League has joined the international community in condemning the terrorist attacks against the United States, saying that terrorism is a detestable practice not linked to any particular religion or nationality.
It said such criminal acts of terror, like those being committed by Israel in the occupied Arab lands, generate a defensive reaction, and called for the speedy enforcement of international law to prevent all kinds of terrorism so the world can live in peace.
Dr. Abdullah ibn Abdul Mohsen Al-Turki, secretary-general of the Makkah-based league, called on all the countries of the world to address all forms of terrorism. In a statement from the Bosnian capital, Sarajevo, where he is currently visiting, Al-Turki said in order for the world to be reformed and its security and safety ensured there must be a quick implementation of the international law to prevent all kinds of aggression.
“Muslim people, societies and organizations represented in the Muslim World League condemn this terrorist crime targeting the innocent. Islam, which originated the relationship between the individual and society, forbids the killing of human beings without justification, and considers the person who unjustifiably kills one soul to have killed all mankind.”
Al-Turki insisted that all forms of aggression must be prevented, especially state terrorism like that practiced by Israel.
“A stark example of despicable terrorism is what is being practiced by Israel in occupied Palestine, where Israel continues to kill innocent people on a daily basis — including women, children and the old.”
He also praised efforts that seek to disassociate terrorism with Islam and Muslims and warned against attempts to liken acts of terror with the Muslim faith. The Western media, he said, continues to point the finger of accusation at Muslims whenever an act of terrorism is committed.
“The MWL has in the past condemned acts of terrorism in many parts of the world, including Ireland, Algeria, Afghanistan and the Horn of Africa,” he said.
