JEDDAH, 1 October — The Palestinian National Authority yesterday received $45 million from the Islamic Development Bank as part of the money pledged by Arab countries to support the intifada.

IDB President Dr. Ahmad Muhammad Ali and the Palestinian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Mustafa Al-Sheikh Deeb signed a memorandum of understanding on the amount in Jeddah.

The IDB was entrusted by Arab leaders to oversee the $1 billion Al-Aqsa and Intifada Fund set up during an emergency summit in Egypt last year.

A statement from the bank headquarters said the agreement brings to $342 million the total amount paid to the PNA so far from the fund’s allocations.
