JEDDAH, 9 October — An empty tanker exploded Sunday morning in a workshop in Hail, killing an Indian laborer and a Pakistani driver and injuring three expat workers seriously. The explosion happened while the Indian was trying to weld the loose upper lid of the tanker, which was returning after unloading petroleum products.
The exploding tank threw the body of the worker up to the ceiling of the workshop, where he hung until Civil Defense personnel brought him down.
The Pakistani driver of the tanker, who was standing nearby, also died in the accident.
In another accident on Sunday, two expats were killed and five other laborers gravely wounded when two cars collided in Wadi Fayq in Baha. Maarouf Ata Allah, an Egyptian, and Abdul Rahman Muhammad Sharif, an Indian, were on their way from Baljurshi to their work place near Baha when the driver of the car they were traveling lost control.
The drive shaft came apart and the car swerved to the opposite lane, hitting another car coming from the opposite direction, according to Abdullah Saeed Al-Ghamdi, the driver of the ill-fated car. Three Bangladeshis and an Egyptian were seriously injured in the accident, Okaz reported yesterday.
