RIYADH, 13 October — US Congressman James A. Traficant expressed support for Palestinian self-determination on the floor of the US House of Representatives on Wednesday.
"Congress must pursue a strategy of providing statehood and recognizing statehood for Palestinians and work it out in the Mideast region," he said.
He urged America to "pursue a comprehensive strategy" against terrorism. "Palestinian children are human beings too," he said, and until the issue of a Palestinian homeland is resolved, there will always be terrorists....there will be more Bin Ladens."
Speaking to Arab News on Wednesday, Khaled Turaani, the executive director of American Muslims for Jerusalem, said that statements like Rep. Traficant’s are indeed rare in the halls of Congress. "Members who have the courage and principles to speak out in favor of justice for Palestinians should be commended and supported," he added.
