JEDDAH, 13 October — The Bangladeshi expatriate community in Saudi Arabia has urged the new government of Prime Minister Khaled Zia to give them voting rights and to set up a separate ministry to take care of overseas Bangladeshis. In a memorandum presented to the premier, they also demanded the allocation of 25 parliamentary seats for overseas workers. "Overseas Bangladeshis should be given priority in the distribution of government properties and land," they said. They also called for an end to illegal remittances.
