JEDDAH, 17 October — It was a proud moment for the toppers of International Indian School-Jeddah (IISJ) at their Annual Day celebrations recently.
Honored were the first three CBSE toppers in Grade 9 (Girls) — Asjeena Andru, Najia Najeeb and Nazia Nasser, and Syeda Talea Batul. Asjeena scored 100 percent in science. In the boys section, the first three CBSE toppers were Vipin Vinod, Deepak Sebastian and Syed Naseel Muhammad Thangal. Vipin also topped in English and science. The toppers in boys section Grade 12 were Sameer Ahmad, Joel David, and Muhammad Sameer Zaheer and Fahad Anjum. Air-India Western Province Manager S.M. Mazharullah presented the airline’s award to Grade 10 toppers Asjeena and Vipin. Afroze Shamim and Sameer Ahmad of Grade 12 received the school managing committee award.
School managing committee Chairman Abdul Rahim Isamil said the school’s achievers had set an all-time record this time in subjects like biology, political science, economics, business studies, Arabic, geography. The toppers from Grade 1 to 12, both boys and girls, received awards. The function began with the recitation from the Qur’an by Ahmad Maqsood.
The head boy, Ibrahim Sultan and Cultural Secretary Muhammad Arif Hussain presented bouquets to the chairman and Mrs. Rahiyanath Rahim. In the cultural program that followed, girls from Grade 1 and Grade 2 performed a butterfly dance choreographed by Hazeena Ansari.
A Sabitha Rahim-directed Romeo and Juliet dance-drama was widely appreciated. Head girl Soumya Shanker gave a vote of thanks.
