HAFR AL-BATEN, 3 November — At first it seemed like just another road accident in the Kingdom, which has one of the highest rates of accidents and road deaths in the world. But there was a twist.
The accident near Hafr Al-Baten on Thursday led to police uncovering an attempt to smuggle 62 kilograms of hashish into the Kingdom, informed sources have confirmed.
The accident occurred when a speeding Land Cruiser jeep hit a water tanker from behind. The driver of the jeep was killed instantly. While the police were checking the valuables he had left behind inside the jeep, they found the drugs — as well as a gun and three bottles of liquor.
