Filipino mechanical engineers get set for annual convention

JEDDAH, 8 November — The Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers chapter in the Western Region (PSME-WRSA) will hold its 2nd annual chapter convention tomorrow.

A press release from the PSME said the convention opens at 8 a.m. at Sunset Hotel along Prince Abdullah street, corner Madinah Road in Jeddah.

Chapter spokesman Muhidin S. Kome said the affair includes the induction of the Board of Directors for the year 2002 by Consul General Kadatuan P. Usop.

“This activity is part of the PSME commitment t provide continuing professional education to Filipino mechanical engineers in the region,” the press release quoted chapter president Dionisio A. Lora, Jr. as saying.

The convention’s theme, “Linking Global Technology Towards Socio-Economic Development & Environmental Awareness,” says it all.

Three technical papers will also be presented during the convention. These are entitled: Psychrometric Processes- Useful Tools for Air Conditioning and Equipment Selection, Integration of Product Design and Process Planning, and Basic Principle of Fire Protection System for a Fuel Depot. Kome said that in between activities, raffles will be drawn and door prizes will be given away to lucky participants.
