ALKHOBAR, 23 November — The Philippine Society for Mechanical Engineers in Saudi Arabia has elected its new set of officers to serve in the coming year.
The officers are: Gil Buna, president; Benjamin Cesora, internal vice president; Lorenzo Reyes, Jr., external vice president; Conrado Cruz, secretary; Rio Pascasio, assistant secretary; Rodolfo Panganiban, treasurer; Dante Plando, assistant treasurer; Gene Rivera, business manager; Jojie Apolinario, assistant business manager; Lamberto Pablo, auditor; Antonio Morales, assistant auditor; and directors Joenel Gallego, Murry Demdam, Armando Calizo, and Danilo Pendon.
The officers were chosen during the professional group’s recent convention at the Gulf Meridien Hotel in Alkhobar.
Part of the convention were product presentations and exhibits held by the sponsors of the event such as the Abar Zainy Airconditioning and Electrical Co., Hace Golden Star Co., Tig Tesco International Co., AYTB Company Ltd., and Suhaimi Design Co. One highlight was a technical presentation on Asset Management by Alan Darley of Al Rushaid Company.
Buna succeeded Rex Catubigan, who administration this year initiated a review and examination for mechanical engineers in the Eastern Region, drafted the guidelines for the chapter’s scholarship program, as well as a personal development program and environmental concern projects.
Catubigan, a senior mechanical engineer at the Royal Commission in Jubail and an executive vice president of the United Surigaonon Association, was the 11th president of the PSME-SA. Before him were Eduardo Malagapo, 1990/1991; Jose Reyes, 1992; Simeon Perez, 1993; Napoleon Lusica, 1994; Efren Reyes, 1995; Ransam Pirote, 1996; Carlito Alpay, 1997; Virgilio Montero, 1998; Virgilio Guevarra, 1999; and Reynaldo Castillo, 2000.
