MAKKAH, 13 December — A security guard of Al-Rajhi Banking and Investment Corp. on Monday foiled an attempt by an Asian expatriate to get away with SR87,000 stolen from the bank on Monday, Al-Madinah newspaper reported yesterday. The thief sneaked into the bank’s branch in the Misfalah district of Makkah at the time of sunset prayers and stole the money from the accountant’s office. A security guard grew suspicious of the nervous behavior of the expatriate who carried a bulging bag full of money with him, and sounded the alarm. In a struggle that ensued, the thief fell on the ground scattering the currency notes all around. He was overpowered and later handed over to the police.
