JEDDAH, 19 December 2001 — Three people, including a couple, were killed in a road accident in Afif two days ago, Al-Jazirah newspaper reported yesterday. A truck hit the car they were traveling in from behind after it rammed into a camel which strayed onto the road. The couple were killed on the spot while their child escaped with minor injuries. The truck driver also died in the pile-up. In another accident, a teenage driver ran over a little girl playing in front of her home in Al-Kharj on Monday evening. The accident happened as the child’s relatives were looking on. The driver sped away without stopping, but was later arrested. The child is hospitalized and is in serious condition.
