Induction of KAIA co-op officers

JEDDAH, 20 December — The officers and members of the newly formed cooperative group KAIA Multipurpose Cooperative will be inducted into office today at the Tropicana Restaurant along Tahlia St.

Consul General Kadatuan P. Usop had been invited to grace the affair, along with OWWA Welfare Officer Mustafa Glang and officers of the OFW Cooperative Council now headed by Domingo "Dawood" Engay.

The new co-op’s officers are Frank Balbutin, chairman; Ed Malibiran, chair of the education committee; Hermie Gregorio, credit & collection officer, and Efren Paez, is the audit and inventory chairman.

Ed Rufino, the current chair of the OFWCC Inter-Cooperative committee, who was instrumental in forming the KAIA co-op, is also the group’s adviser and coordinator. Wenfred Castolome, the OFWCC’s vice chairman and head of the education and training committee, said co-op organizing is part of the council’s outreach program.

Castolome said the aim is to encourage other members of the community to form their own business- and livelihood-oriented groups in preparation for their eventual return to the Philippines.
