JEDDAH, 23 December — Three visiting Pakistanis — two men who claim to be the tallest and the shortest in the world, and a woman claiming to be the tallest female ever born — have received gifts from a Saudi furniture manufacturing company: Three specially designed beds and mattresses designed to accommodate their extraordinary size.

Hailing from the Pakistani province of Punjab, Azad Khan Masood, a 25-year-old measuring 250 cm, is now awaiting acknowledgement from the Guinness Book of World Records. Zainab Bibi, 28, who is 210 cm tall, and 20-year-old Ghulam Shabbir who is 240 cm tall, accompanied him on a recent visit to the Kingdom as part of global tour.

Zainab started growing extraordinarily tall at the age of 15 and now cannot wear bangles because her wrists are so large.

The Sleep High company designed two three-meter long, 120-cm wide and 33 cm high beds with ten legs and ten wheels to accommodate the tallest man and the tallest woman. It took 36 working hours to make the beds for Azad and Zainab. The building of the third bed for the shortest man was a "simple business that took no time," said one Sleep High engineer. The company will ship the three beds to Pakistan free of charge. (AN photo by Ahed Al-Shihawi)
