JEDDAH, 11 January — The Ministry of Health plans to build five new hospitals in Dammam, Aridah in Jizan and Mina and increase facilities in several others, according to an official source at the ministry. The new hospitals to be built include a 400-bed maternity hospital in Dammam, an 200-bed hospital for infectious diseases in Aridah and 150-bed mental hospital in Al-Qurayyat, Al-Watan reported yesterday. An emergency hospital will also be built in Mina. Fifty projects, for which contracts have been awarded, are on stream. The capacity of several existing hospitals will be increased, the source said.
