MAKKAH, 12 January — A three-year-old boy was recently reunited with his family after nearly two years, Okaz reported yesterday. The Arabic daily said the boy had been given protection by a Pakistani expatriate worker, who faces deportation for not informing the authorities about the child. The Pakistani had demanded that the boy’s parents prove their parenthood before he would hand over the child, whom the family lost while taking him to hospital. Brig. Muhammad Al-Harithy, director of Makkah police, said if the Pakistani had informed the authorities about Abdullah when he first found him, the child would not have been kept away from his parents for so long.
