PARIS, 12 January — Saudi Arabia reiterated yesterday that it was carrying out the ongoing project on the site of the Ajyad Fort in Makkah to meet the needs of the growing number of pilgrims. Dr. Fida Al-Adel, the Kingdom’s representative to UNESCO, said the whole area in Makkah was now earmarked for Haj use. He was responding to an article published in Le Figaro. "Saudi Arabia will not violate the agreements it has signed or the directives of UNESCO," he said. (SPA)
