JEDDAH, 28 January — Six ministers, including Agriculture and Water Minister Dr. Abdullah Muammar and Communications Minister Dr. Nasir Al-Salloum, will attend a major seminar on Jizan’s economic development prospects on Feb. 5-6. Other dignitaries expected to take part in the two-day event are: Prince Muhammad ibn Nasir, governor of Jizan, Prince Abdullah ibn Faisal, governor of the General Investment Authority (GIA), and Prince Sultan ibn Salman, secretary-general of the Supreme Commission for Tourism.
The seminar will start with a speech by the chairman of the Jizan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which will be followed by the speech of Abdullah Zainal Alireza, chairman of the Council of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
The seminar will debate working papers on various topics covering Jizan’s development prospects in industrial, agricultural, tourism and mining areas.
Prince Abdullah ibn Faisal will chair the session that will focus on the future of industry and mining in Jizan. It will discuss a paper presented by the GIA on “Investment climate and prospects in Jizan and industrial investment opportunities in the region”.
Jizan Governor Prince Muhammad will preside over another session that will discuss the possibility of establishing an investment and development company.
One session to be chaired by Prince Sultan ibn Salman will focus on investment prospects in Jizan’s tourism sector. The session will discuss three papers to be presented by Dr. Walid Al-Humaidy, supervisor of environment and cultural development at the Supreme Commission for Tourism, Bandar Al-Fehaid, chairman of the National Committee for Tourism, and the Jizan Municipality.
