JEDDAH, 5 February — Patrol police in Jeddah had to call for Civil Defense help to save the life of a thief who was clinging on to an air-conditioner while trying to escape from a building during a failed burglary attempt. A Civil Defense team rescued the man from the air-conditioner in the third floor of the building in north Jeddah. Police later arrested the 27-year-old man from an African country. He was sent to jail pending an investigation. The police surrounded the building after one of the residents alerted a patrol team on the burglary attempt. The accident occurred when the man stumbled while climbing to the roof of the building to hide there with the valuable he had stolen.
