JEDDAH, 10 February — A property developer’s encroachment on a public park in the Awdah district in Taif has provoked protests from local residents, according to Al-Madinah newspaper. The man started cutting down trees and building in the 20-year-old park. When challenged he claimed that he was the real owner of the land on which the park was built. The matter has been reported to the Taif governor after the initial action taken by the municipality against the encroachment was rejected by the man.
