JEDDAH, 14 February — A visiting US academic delivered a lecture on "Western impressions of the Muslim woman" at Effat College here yesterday. Elizabeth Warnock Fernea, professor emeritus of English and Middle Eastern studies at University of Texas, Austin, spoke of the stereotyped images of Muslim women in Western minds. One of the first American researchers on women in the Middle East, Professor Fernea has authored several books and produced a number of documentaries on the Middle East.
