ALKHOBAR, 15 February — Amir Ali Bilal, who stood first among students in three branches of Saudi Arabian International School (Pakistani Section) securing 760 out of 850 marks in the SSC examination, and Zahra Khan, a student of Pre-English HSSC examination getting 902 out of 1,100 marks, were awarded gold medals at the annual prize distribution ceremony of the school held recently.
Also receiving gold medals were a few other students for their excellent performance in the Federal Board examination and Rahat Parveen, principal of the school’s girls wing, for maintaining a high standard of administration and academic management. A large number of parents and relatives of students attended the ceremony whose chief guest was Dr. Saleem Khawaja, a pediatric surgeon at King Fahd University. Among other guests honored were Mubarak Hammd Bubasheit, director of foreign education in the Eastern Province, Saad Eid Al-Dossary and Dr. Ameen-ul Aali.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Qur’an by Anas Hafiz Abdul Ghaffar, a student of class XI-A. Asim Latif and others sang the famous Qaseeda (ode) Burda. Professor Tariq Javed Faizi compered the program. Children of junior classes presented cultural items including national songs, tableaus and regional dresses.
School Principal Babar Mustafa Butt read the annual report and expressed his gratitude to the founder of the school, Abbas Hussain Malik. Members of the board of directors of the school M. Ramzan Saba, Raja Abdul Sattar, M. Farhat Choudhry (secretary), Shaukat Ali (vice chairman), Dr. Bashir A. Naz (chairman), and others distributed prizes to winners.
The chief guest said he was greatly impressed by the discipline and educational standard of the institution. Dr. Bashir Ahmed Naz, chairman of the school board of directors, thanked local officials and guests for extending their support.
