JEDDAH, 16 February — Nine senior high school students of the International Philippine School in Jeddah passed the University of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT).
This was revealed by Chairman Efren Rodriguez of the IPSJ Board of Trustees, adding that this was an improvement from last year’s results when only 4 out of 29 aspirants passed the exams.
“For this school year, IPSJ has posted a 136 percent improvement rating with 9 passers out of 29 aspirants,” Rodriguez said with unalloyed satisfaction.
“We are indeed very proud of our student’s academic accomplishments, moreover, we hope that in the near future we’ll attain a 100 percent success rate at the UPCAT and the other admission tests being given by the other universities,” said IPSJ principal Dr. Reinita Respicio, who echoed not only the sentiment of Rodriguez and the other BOT members but also of the entire faculty and staff.
The passing students are Somayyah Abdullah, Kristabelle Bustamante, Arjaenelle Caro, Abdul Malik Diamla, Aiman Diza, Bryan Dumaguina, Mohammad Jamaluddin Guinomla, Hosneya Mangotara and Rhosan Nosete.
The exams were conducted at the IPSJ Social Hall by UP admissions officer Dr. Esperanza Ybanez.
The University of the Philippines Admissions Office also announced that two other Jeddah-based schools — Al Hekma International School and Achievers International School have each produced two successful candidates.
Four students from the International Philippine School in AlKhobar also made it.
