JEDDAH, 18 February — The chairman of the Board of Trustees of the International Philippine School in Jeddah said that the board is waiting for an official letter from the Ministry of Education outlining the guidelines concerning the conduct and schedule of elections in view of the revised rules that were published last week.
“The directives coming from the Ministry of Education will hopefully answer the concerns being raised by some parents,” BOT Chairman Efren Rodriguez said.
The new rules for the election of officers for expatriate schools published last week stipulates that the term of the elected officers would be three years and the Foreign Education Director could extend the term of the board by one year.
The current board was elected for a two-year term ending on October 15, 2001.
Ambassador Rafael Seguis, who has been receiving queries from parents, was assured by Mansour Ghazzali of the MOE that the ministry will issue guidelines to the school after the Haj holidays.
