KHOST, 26 March — An Afghan commander in the eastern city of Khost yesterday claimed his forces had seen Osama Bin Laden, leader of Al-Qaeda organization, in the region about two weeks ago accompanied by about 80 of his men, Asharq Al-Awsat, a sister publication of Arab News, reported. Kamal Khan also said that a Taleban commander and Ayman Dhawahiry, the right-hand man of Bin Laden, were reorganizing the Al-Qaeda and recruiting volunteers near Pakistan border. No independent sources were available to confirm Khan’s claims. But US administration officials said they were still not sure whether Bin Laden was dead or alive. US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said yesterday Bin Laden was reorganizing Al-Qaeda in Yemen.
