RIYADH, 10 April — Prince Saud ibn Fahd, deputy chief of intelligence, stated yesterday that assassinations, torture, intimidation and humiliation were unknown to Saudi security agencies, especially the intelligence department.
Speaking to reporters after visiting Al-Faisal International Academy in Riyadh, Prince Saud said the authorities would take action against officers if found involved in such activities.
He denied press reports that officials of the Commission for Promoting Virtue and Preventing Vice had hampered rescue operations at the fire-hit Makkah girls’ school.
“Investigations into the fire incident proved that the commission officials had done nothing wrong,” the prince said and urged the media not to make allegations against anyone without solid evidence. However, he said mistakes are human.
Referring to the health of Prince Nawaf, chief of intelligence, who is recuperating at American University Hospital in Beirut after a surgery, he said Prince Nawaf would be discharged from hospital soon.
