They cry out but no one hears the sobs
As they run for their lives from tanks and such;
All this forced on them, for what?
Is a “homeland” asking too much?
And the children, affected by it all
Look, and ask why no one stops this
Continued brutality — where does it end?
Does the world care if something is amiss?
Wives and mothers, seeing husbands and sons
Marched away, blindfolded. To what?
Are they terrorists because they want
What other people have got?
We continue to look beyond the fact

Can we tell the frightened children —

They watch us walk away as if
Nothing will stop this — not even pause:
