MADINAH, 13 April — A board member of the Cooperative Teachers’ Society in Madinah has been sentenced to imprisonment by a court for failing to repay money owed to members of the society after it fell apart. The verdict came as hundreds of the society’s members gathered in front of the court and the Commerce Ministry office here seeking intervention by the authorities to get their money reimbursed. The society failed because its chairman allegedly ran away with funds worth SR200 million. Authorities have mounted a hunt for him.
